Experience the best primate watch with TATS; Kibaale National Park,
Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Lake
Bunyonyi and Par National des Volcans.
Day 1: Kampala – Kibale National Park
After breakfast, you will drive to Kibale National Park with lunch
enroute. Kibale National Park is one of the most beautiful and
stunning forests in Uganda. It is home tour closest relative – the
endangered Chimpanzee. The forest also boasts of having one of the
highest diversity and density of primates in Africa totaling 13
species that include the threatened Red Colobus monkey, I’hoesti
monkey Blue monkey, Grey Cheeked, Velvet and the Black or White Colobus monkeys. In the afternoon explore the crater Lakes the
guided walk through Local communities for interactions with the
local people.
Dinner and over night stay at Ndali Lodge or Primate Lodge or
Chimpanzee Forest Guest House.
Day 2: Kibale National Park – Queen Elizabeth National Park
After early breakfast, report at Kanyanchu Tourist Centre where
tourist activities begin and set out to track chimpanzee in the
forest. Chances of viewing the chimps are over 90% but not a
guarantee.
Kibale National Park is one of the beautiful and stunning forests in
the Uganda. This is home of our closest living relatives the
endangered Chimpanzee, the threatened Red colobus monkey and the
rare L’Hoest’s monkey.
The forest also boasts of having one of the highest diversity and
density of primates in Africa totaling 13 species including the
Black and white colobus, Blue monkey, Grey-cheeked mangabey, Red
tailed monkey and Bush babies and Pottos.
After lunch visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary or take on a guided walk
around Magombe Swamp which will provide you with the opportunity to
see a wide range of flora and fauna. View a variety of butterflies,
birds and other insects.
Later drive to Queen Elizabeth National park. Queen Elizabeth
National park boasts of a variety of big game like; lions,
elephants, buffaloes, Hyenas, Hippos, bushbucks, the comical
warthogs and rare or elusive leopards.
Check in at Ishasha Wilderness Camp or Simba Safari Campor Hippo Hill
Camp or the executive Jacana Safari Lodge or Mweya Safari Lodge that
is set on the peninsular over looking Lake Edward and the lush
Kazinga Channel that joins Lakes Edward and George.
Day 3: Queen Elizabeth National Park
Before sunrise embark on an early morning game drive to catch up
with the early risers and predators returning to their hideouts. You
will most likely to meet grazing Hippos, lions, elephants,
buffaloes, spotted hyenas, bushbucks, waterbucks, the elusive
leopard and of course the several warthogs.
Lunch break then drive to the dock on the channel for an afternoon
launch cruise on Kazinga channel that joins Lakes Edward and George.
It is a waterway that is filled with schools of hippos and
elephants, buffalos which can be seen at the banks. There is also a
rich variety of birds on the channel.
Dinner and over night Jacana Safari Lodge or Mweya Safari Lodge or
Hippo Hill Camp or Simba Safari Camp or Ishasha Wilderness Camp.
Day 4: Queen Elizabeth – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast check out of the lodge or hostel and drive to Bwindi
Forest National park via Ishasha –the southern sector of Queen
Elizabeth National park. This area is famous for the tree climbing
lions, which with luck may be spotted on the large fig trees.
This drive to Bwindi takes you through the unique western rift
valley escarpment. Bwindi National park is home of the rare mountain
gorillas and other primates. Apart from gorillas, there are a wide
variety of primates that may be seen. The forest itself is lush and
green and there are streams and water falls, many bird species and
Butterflies will be encountered in this Old and Thick Forest..
Check in at Buhoma Lodge) or Gorilla Resort or Buhoma Community Rest
Camp (Bandas) for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park After breakfast set off early with
your guides to track the gorillas. The thrill of your encounter will
erase the difficulties of the potentially strenuous trek. Bring
jungle boots and rain jackets because the park is often wet. Spend
time in awe watching the gorillas go about their activities. Each
encounter is different and has its own rewards, but you are likely
to enjoy the close view of adults feeding, grooming and resting as
the youngsters frolic and swing from vines in a delightfully playful
display.
The Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a magnificent green swathe of
dense rainforest, so ancient that survived the last ice age. A
recently proclaimed world heritage site, its one of the most
biologically diverse areas on earth and its unique, precious flora
sustains roughly half of the world population of mountain gorillas –
believed to number about 720. There is also a substantial chimpanzee
population and research shows that Bwindi is the only forest in
Africa in which these two apes live together.
Return to camp exhilarated to relieve the encounter with friends
over a drink. Dinner and overnight Buhoma Lodgeor Gorilla Resort or Buhoma Community Rest Camp (Bandas).
Day 6: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Kabale (Lake Bunyonyi)
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Kabale (Lake Bunyonyi) After
breakfast, transfer to Kabale where you will have your lunch. Take
on an afternoon boat ride to some of the islands on the lake. The
boat ride is most likely to yield sightings of rare bird species.
Have the evening at leisure as you enjoy the scenic lake Bunyonyi.
Dinner and over night at Bunyonyi Overland Resort or Arcadia
Cottages or Bushara Island.
Day 7: Kabale (Lake Bunyonyi) – Rwanda
Late breakfast then transfer to Rwanda. Dinner and overnight stay
Kinigi Guest House or Gorilla Nest Lodge
Day 8: Parc National des Volcans (Translated as Volcano’s
National Park)
Early breakfast, with your guide visit Parc National des Volcans for
gorilla trekking. Be prepared for yet another arduous day in the
jungle. Spend an hour with the gorillas before returning to Kinigi
Guest House or Gorilla Nest Lodge for dinner and over night stay at Parc
National des Volcans – Kigali.
Drive south to Kigali. The drive to Kigali takes you through
beautiful hills that are well known for Rwanda. If time allows, take
on a city tour or visit the genocide sites.
Day 9:
In case you fly out via Entebbe Airport, in the Morning you will be
transferred to your accommodation at Entebbe.
